PROCLAMATION
Volunteer Appreciation Day
Tuesday, June 5, 2001
WHEREAS,
the first week of June is recognized as annually International Volunteer Week;
and
WHEREAS, this is a time set aside to honor those persons who have reached out to
others through volunteer service and have called attention to more community
services for individuals, groups and families to help solve serious problems
that effect our community; and
WHEREAS, volunteers in this community are greatly responsible for many of the
services and programs available in our community; and
WHEREAS, a multitude of Aurora citizens kindly and generously donate their time
annually; and
WHEREAS, the future of our community, our lives and our nation depends upon the
type of people who rise to the aide of others; and
WHEREAS, volunteers are the "heart" of our community; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor is desirous of acknowledging and recognizing the volunteer
kindness and contributions which have been made by volunteers;
NOW, THEREFORE, I David L. Stover, Mayor of the City of Aurora, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, June 5, 2001 as Volunteer Appreciation Day in the City of Aurora and urge citizens of our community to recognize the many persons who have reached out to others through volunteer services.
