Beloved Baha'i Friends of the Faroes, Congratulations on your 50th Anniversary! 50 years may sound like a long time ago, but when one says "1953", it sounds a little closer to one's experience. So much has happened in the world in those 50 years - the world has changed almost beyond recognition politically, technologically and socially. The Earth has finally been seen to be "one country" from space, and the inter-relationship of the nations is being understood more and more as vital connections of the large, extended family it really is. 50 years ago the Baha'i Faith was first established on the Faroes, and the principle of unity proclaimed - this unity is now truly being seen as a reality. No doubt the many cards and messages you receive from many parts of the globe will be a further testament to this truth. I would like to congratulate your community on the 50th anniversary of the introduction and establishment of the Baha'i Faith in the Faroe Islands. It is worth contemplating on the destiny of human beings. 50 years ago, Eskil Ljungberg, from Sweden, wished to go as a pioneer to Morocco. That same year, I was living in Iran and without any knowledge of this, I also chose my goal as Tangier - International Zone in Morocco. It was his destiny that he ended up instead in your wonderful islands. He served the Cause of God and brought the glad tidings and the message of Baha'u'llah to those remote islands. May God bless his soul, and his name remain alive in the history of these islands. I would like to express my profound admiration for his life long sacrifice. I also pray and implore Baha'u'llah to send down His blessings and confirm and assist each one of you to serve the Faith and bring about unity, peace and understanding amongst mankind. Eskil moved to the Faroe Islands in 1953 when he was 67 years old. He died in Tórshavn in 1985.

Í marsmánaði fer Bahá'í-samfelagið at byrja eitt ár við minningartiltøkum fyri at hátíðarhalda síni 50 ár í Føroyum. Hetta árið er ognað minninum um Eskil Ljungberg ( 1886 - 1985 ), tí fyrsta Bahá'íanum í Føroyum. Ein framsýning, ið ber heitið "Heilsanir og Lukkuynskjanir frá Ymsastaðni í Heiminum", ið er opin fyri øllum, verður partur av einari móttøku leygardagin tann 22. Mars kl. 15:00 á Bahá'í-Miðstøðini í Gundadali. Vístur fram verður ein hópur av postkortum og boðskrivum, ið eru send úr øllum heiminum til Bahá'íarnar í Føroyum við hetta høvið. Framsýningin fer eisini at vera opin hvønn tísdag ( kl. 20:00 - 21:00 ) og sunnudag ( kl. 14:00 - 16:00 ) til og við tann 15. Apríl. Tiltøk ígjøgnum árið fara at fevna um ymiskar framsýningar og útgávuna av einum bóklingi um lívið hjá Eskil Ljungberg.
