The Baha’i Faith is an independent religion which regards all the major
religions of the world as emanating from the same God, no matter by what
name His followers call Him. They believe that His Divine Purpose is revealed progressively through His Prophets and Messengers: Abraham, Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus Christ, Mohammad, The Bab, and now the latest Manifestation of God, Bahá'u'lláh (The Glory of God). Each of these Holy Messengers have brought guidance to humankind progressively across the centuries, and at each stage they have reinvigorated the Spiritual Truths of Gods Will and as in this age Baha’u’llah has come, as prophesied, to Regenerate believe in the One God, and in fulfillment of the Scriptures, to set up God’s Kingdom on earth. AIMS Baha’is seek to be of loving service to all humankind in bringing about the eradication of all forms of prejudice, exploitation and war; the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty; the establishment of equal status for women and men; the fostering of harmony between religion and science; the adoption of a universal language; unfettered independent search after truth; the protection of cultural diversity; and above all the establishment of world peace. ADMINISTRATION Believing as they do that all humans are equal in God’s sight, there is no hierarchy or clergy in the Baha’i Faith and administration is carried out by democratically elected local and national Assemblies who draw their inspiration and guidance from the Universal House of Justice on Mount Carmel, Haifa, Israel. WORSHIP We have no specific places to worship in the UK but there is a Baha’i Temple on each continent that have been built by Baha’is for worship by people of all faiths irrespective of belief, in which prayers and readings from all the Holy Writings can be recited. Followers come from all faiths, cultures and countries. We do not proselytize to increase our membership and do not accept money from outside of the Faith as we believe that endeavours in the path of God is payment enough and that work is worship. LOCAL COMMUNITY INFORMATION The Baha’i community of Bradford is made up of Mauritian, Iranian, Pakistani, and various indigenous and English born families.
