From Martin Konstant.
Monday 8th. November
Have I been silent and absent or what?
Dear Sylvia and fellow students, please
forgive me, this is my first submission to the forum.
Thought that came to me from first section of
the book is born of a character who told me;- "I don't believe in God, I
think it's o.k. not to believe in God and I think it's o.k. for those who want
to believe in God." In the ensuing discussion I mentioned the evidence of
the baboon.
Baboons have been evolving side by side with
other primates and us ever since the beginning of time. If a farmer finds
baboons destroying his maize crop, however, a common trick is for him to go
into the maize field with his rifle and two workers, the baboons immediately
see the people coming and, amid much noise, evacuate the area. The two workers go
out of the field after a while leaving the farmer and his gun inside. Sure as
nyanis, give a little time and the baboons will return to the field to be shot.
This trick can be repeated again and again and again. They can not count up to
three.
What a miraculous gift our mind is, this
brain that can see and understand the invisible.
Baha'u'llah has the same sized head as any of
us, I'm sure, though, that His brain is simply a staging post for unlimited
knowledge coming from a Divine Source as He requires it.
Some ordinary people with the same size head
as mine are, however, able to hold vastly more knowledge in their head than I
am able to. Thus I believe that the scientists who say we only actually use ten
percent of our brain are correct. Furthermore, those who allow their brains to
be damaged; boxers, spray painters, drunks and so on; go for quite a long time
before the effects are noticeable, even then they can manage for ages.
'Abdu'l-Baha is able to have so much
knowledge about such diverse subjects in His head. Actually, I think He can
access infinite knowledge as He needs it, but His head must store huge amounts
of information, what do you think?
I absolutely love having access to the
information available to us from the Baha'i Writings. It gives me a sense of
security, of comfort, of joy, of growing attraction (love).
Warm and loving regards to everyone.
Martin.
