A Study of the “Secret of Divine
Civilization”
|
Part 1.
An interesting exchange took place at a recent Fireside in our home. The speaker had the influence of religion on civilization as his theme and the question of economics and prosperity came. He mentioned the Huquq’u’llah as a method of ensuring that the extremes of wealth and poverty that we know today might be seriously moderated. Then my friend Murial spoke up and remarked that in Secret of Divine Civilization Abdu’l-Baha says that there should be wealth but that the whole population should be wealthy. She also mentioned that Abdu’l-Baha says that to be spiritually acceptable wealth must be acquired by one’s efforts and that it should be spent on things worthy and beneficial to the people such as schools and hospitals and libraries.
It is good to hear the things we study being brought out in such a situation. It seems that our conversations have provoked her to more reading. She is a very keen lady.
