There have been Bahá'ís in
the United Kingdom since 1898 and a national administrative body, the
National Spiritual Assembly, was first elected in 1923. The Faith became
established in Wales with the first local community, that of Cardiff, in
1948. Since then it has spread throughout Wales, and now has an elected
Bahá'í Council for Wales under the jurisdiction of the National Spiritual
Assembly. There is a concentration of local communities in the south-east of
the Principality.
The Bahá'í Faith was established in Chepstow
in 1973 with the first Bahá'í moving from Bath. Now there is a very active
community in Chepstow, involved with the wider community and also
co-operating with its neighbours on many fronts. Regular local activities
include meditation meetings, spiritual development courses, and children's
classes, all of which are open to non-Bahá'ís as well as
Bahá'ís. .
We never forget the admonition from our Scriptures to ‘Consort with the
followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship’.
