Festival of Ridvan - April 21, 2002 Citrus and Hernando County Baha'is and their friends observed the Holy Day of Ridvan at Wallace Brooks Park, Inverness. They gathered under a tent, filled with fresh cut flowers, for devotions. Following devotions, the children were able to unwrap one layer of a gift wrapped 12 times (once for each day of Ridvan) each time they were able to answer a question about the Holy Day correctly. The gathering then enjoyed a cook out and the pleasure of each others' company.
Naw Ruz, A New Day! March 23, 2002 Citrus, Marion and Hernando County Baha'is and their friends observed the Holy Day of Naw Ruz at Inverness Golf & Country Club with a dinner dance. Following dinner and before dancing, Mr. Jay Miller spoke briefly about the importance of this "New Day". Joann and Richard Bennett from Marion County sang, and the children of all ages enjoyed games.
Meeting of the Minds, Citrus - January 13, 2002 Citrus Bahai's and friends welcome Chase Foster, student from UF, to speak on "The Destiny of America and the Promise of World Peace: What About Me?"

Banished from His native Persia as an infidel and follower of The martyred
Bab, Baha'u'llah spent the next nine years in Baghdad. While there,
instead of languishing, He ministered to the Iraqis, Kurds, and Persians,
rich and poor, noble and servant alike.
Ultimately, He developed a loving, loyal following, from Baghdad all the
way back to Persia. As happened 2000 years before, religious leaders
became jealous and fearful. They convinced the political leaders to
extradite Him to Constantinople.
When His followers in Baghdad heard this, they were devastated. They
thronged His home to see Him and say good-bye. The crowds were so
great that His home became too small. A nobleman offered his garden
as a place Baha'u'llah could receive visitors. And they came.
They mournfully followed Him as He entered this garden, later to be
called the Garden of Ridvan (Paradise). He stayed there for 12 days
prior to His final departure to receive well wishers.
There, in the garden of paradise, Baha'u'llah proclaimed to His followers
that He was the Promised One of All Ages! The Divine
Springtime had come! What was initially a solemn, mournful occasion
had become an occasion that was cause for great rejoicing. This occasion
is now celebrated by the Baha'is as the Festival of Ridvan, the most
joyful and of sacred of all Baha'i holy days.
