Followers of Bahá'u'lláh around the world believe that the purpose of religion is to be the cause of love and unity. They believe that religion must call upon the people of every race, nation, culture, religion and class to regard themselves as one family.
Bahá'ís think of the earth as one country and humanity as its citizens who are encouraged to develop capacities such as kindness, generosity, honesty, loyalty and love.
Members of the Bahá'í world community recognise Bahá'u'lláh's message as divinely revealed guidance for the age in which we live - guidance that honours the ancient spiritual truths of all the world religions combined with specific guidance for the challenges of today's society.
Bahá'ís come from all walks of life, all cultures, all religions and no religion. They include rich, poor, young, old, educated and uneducated. People become Bahá'ís at all stages of spiritual growth.
There is no special ceremony or ritual involved in becoming a Bahá'í. Individuals of 15 years and older can become registered members of the Bahá'í Faith at any time.
Registration as a Bahá'í usually means completing a membership card so that you can take part in the life of the Bahá'í community. It is even possible to declare your faith on-line, though we would recommend that you meet your local Baha'is so you can ask any questions. If you live in Haringey, drop us a line so we can invite you to meet with us. If you live outside of Haringey, complete this form and you will be put in contact with your nearest Bahá'ís.
There is no compulsory giving of funds to the Faith, contributions are a matter solely for the individual. Uniquely, the Bahá'í Faith does not accept contributions from people who are not Bahá'ís.
