The Verb "Akmala" Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide
to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right
and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that
month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey,
the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends
every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants
you) to complete [tukmilu]* the prescribed period, and to glorify Him
in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful. And accomplish the pilgrimage and the visit for Allah, but if, you are
prevented, (send) whatever offering is easy to obtain, and do not shave
your heads until the offering reaches its destination; but whoever among
you is sick or has an ailment of the head, he (should effect) a compensation
by fasting or alms or sacrificing, then when you are secure, whoever profits
by combining the visit with the pilgrimage (should take) what offering
is easy to obtain; but he who cannot find (any offering) should fast for
three days during the pilgrimage and for seven days when you return; these
(make) ten (days) complete [kamila]*; The mothers shall give such to their offspring for two whole [kamilayn]*
years, if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the
cost of their food and clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have
a burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mother shall be Treated
unfairly on account of her child. Let them bear, on the Day of Judgment, their own burdens in full [kamilatan]*,
and also (something) of the burdens of those without knowledge, whom they
misled. Alas, how grievous the burdens they will bear! * None of the verbs above (all from the same root KML) convey the meaning
of "perfection" in these verses. |
