'Ábdu'l-Bahá visited the UK in 1911, en route to North America and Canada.
Miss Sarah Ann Ridgway met with him in London. He also passed through Liverpool port on his return voyage in 1912. A number of Bahá'ís from Greater Manchester went to greet him, in 1912, including Miss Ridgway.
Greater Manchester's growing Bahá'í community often wrote to 'Ábdu'l-Bahá. His replies were complied and later published. Copies are now part of our local archives.
Left photo taken in Paris, 1911 and presented to the Manchester Bahá'ís by Shoghi Effendi in October 1921, who wrote on its back:
'Presented to my beloved brothers and sisters in Manchester
as a token of my deepest Bahá'í affection. Shoghi.'
