The Founder of the Bahá'í Faith. His title is Arabic, meaning 'the Glory of God'. Bahá'u'lláh was born in Tehran, Persia (modern day Iran). He was successively banished to Baghdad, Constantinople (now Istanbul), Adrianople (Edirne), and finally to the prison-city of Akka (Acre, Israel).
During His forty-year ministry, Bahá'u'lláh revealed a hundred volumes of scriptures. He was held as a prisoner until his ascension in 1892.
His house at Bahji (just outside Akka), shown opposite, is a place of pilgrimage for Bahá'ís from all over the world.
