The Bab
The Báb - Herald of Bahá'ulláh - 1819-1850
The Founder of the Bábí Faith and Herald of the Bahá'u'lláh. His title means 'the Gate', as the Báb prophesised the coming of Bahá'u'lláh.

The Báb was born in Shiraz, Persia (Iran). He was executed in 1850 for His liberal religious teachings, which were seen as dangerous and heretical by the ruling leaders and clergy.

Using voluntary contributions from Bahá'ís all over the world, a beautiful Shrine to the Báb, surrounded by magnificent garden terraces, has been built on Mount Carmel (Haifa, Israel, shown opposite).
