Guardian and Head of the Bahá'í Faith (1921-1957). Shoghi Effendi was great grandson of Bahá'u'lláh, appointed as Guardian by 'Ábdu'l-Bahá's Will.

In 1921, Shoghi Effendi studied English at Balliol College, Oxford, to further improve his already remarkable translations of Bahá'í scriptures.

Shoghi Effendi put the worldwide vision of Bahá'u'lláh and 'Ábdu'l-Bahá into practice and encouraged Bahá'ís to create local, national and international elected bodies to serve their communities.
