The Preston Bahá’í
Community

The local Bahá’í community comprises a few families, a total of twelve adults and a few children.

The community organises activities which are open to all. Namely, Study Circles, Children’s Classes, and Devotional meetings. The latter are called “Tranquil Time” and currently (2005-2006) run fortnightly in Ingol and occasionally at the University of Central Lancashire Multi-Faith Centre.

Members of the community have variously contributed voluntary work to a number of local organisations including the Preston Faith Forum, the Lancashire Forum of Faiths, the Preston and Western Lancashire Racial Equality Council, the Lancashire Global Education Centre, Relate (the marriage guidance charity), and Feed the Children. Additionally, a member of the community currently organises an evening class for 10 weeks in the autumn term called “Exploring Many Faiths”, to facilitate learning about all faiths in the city, and promote greater understanding and tolerance.
For further information about all these activities, contact the local secretary by post at 19 Dunbar Road, Ingol, Preston, PR2 3YE.
