Welcome to the official Web site of the Bahá'í Community of San Mateo, California!

The history of the Bahá'í presence in San Mateo begins in April, 1947. The festival of Ridvan is the start of the administrative year [see an explanation on the Calendar Page]. That year, San Mateo registered its first Bahá'í assembly. The directive was that incorporated cities needed to have their own Bahá'í communities. You can view an overview of the administration of the Faith in the introductory page.

The Assembly was incorporated in 1963. Presently, some 34 Bahá'ís live in San Mateo . There is a family school, [see the link, on the'links' page] and the community participates in local charitable activities. We meet in each other's homes, not having a physical center - yet.We would like to warmly welcome inquiries, if you're in the area, passing through, or just want to know more. Our information is contained in the 'CONTACT US' link.

We invite you to learn more about our Faith, update yourself on the latest activities in the community and check out the latest news.

Web Note: Some of the files aren't coming up right; I have a glitch in my WP software, which I'm trying to get resolved. mean-time, if you use the contact email, I'll send you the file in .rtf format, or plain text. Thanks for your patience.  --Marty
