About the Bahà’ì Faith

Founded in 1844, the Bahà’ì Faith is the second most widespread religion in the world, with over 5 million followers in 170 countries.  Bahá’u’lláh, the founder of the Bahà’ì Faith taught that there is only one God, the oneness of mankind and that all the great religions of the world represent stages in the revelation of God’s will and purpose for humanity.  Bahà’ìs believe that Bahá’u’lláh is the most recent in this succession of divine Messengers.  Bahà’ì beliefs include: harmony of science and religion, equality of men and women, elimination of prejudice of all kinds and universal peace.

The UK community

Introduced to the UK over 100 years ago, the Bahà’ì Faith has no clergy or individual leaders.  Its affairs are administered by elected bodies at local, national and international levels.  The “National Spiritual Assembly” of UK was one of the first to be established, in 1925.
