"The Activity Generator" Strand 2a –Laws.
Sorting - make up some cards with Bahá'í laws and some nonsense laws and ask the students to sort out the "wheat" from the "chaff", etc. (Try to make sure they remember the right ones!)
Game-Creating – For young students a game could be invented with simple rules, as an introduction to laws, e.g. teacher says "traffic lights are green" and they may walk about the room, teacher says "traffic lights are amber" and they must stand still, teacher says "traffic lights are red" and they must sit down. (to make it harder, teacher holds up a card of the colour instead of saying anything) anyone who does not quickly change is out. (amber following red means stand up.)
Give a talk/presentation - ask students to prepare a talk on a subject such as "The challenge of Bahá'í laws" or "The benefits that come from obeying Bahá'u'lláh’s laws", etc.
Discussion - look at some fictional actions which might be breaking Bahá’í law. Decide if each one is breaking a law or not. If you know of a law being broken, what should you do? Does your action differ according to whether the law is being broken by an individual or a group of Bahá’ís such as a committee? Does your action differ according to whether non-Bahá’ís are involved (i.e. observing what is happening, presumably you don’t need to do anything if it is the non-Bahá’í breaking the Bahá’í law, or do you?) ?
