"The Activity Generator" Strand 2b –Teachings.
Interviewing/Consulting/Counselling Work in threes taking turns to be interviewer, interviewee and observer and conduct an interview about a topic of world concern. The observer should provide constructive feedback on how well each person did.
You could have the interviewer pretending not to be Bahá’í and the interviewee trying to put across the Bahá’í teaching on the topic, or maybe the other way round.
Make Music. - songs of love, peace and unity.
Make Art Collages e.g. for unity in diversity.
Ranking – Can the items be put in some sort of order? According to importance or seriousness? Make a list of all the Bahá’í teachings and principles. If these can be put in order of importance then we will know where to start if asked about the Faith by someone who knows nothing about it and has a limited time available, e.g. while riding on a bus or train, or waiting at a bus stop or railway station.
Memorisation – Having decided on the order, the list needs to be remembered, since one can hardly keep referring to notes while talking about the most important aspects of one’s religion!
Give a talk/presentation – To keep the list in one’s memory, a fairly regular reminder would be a good idea. Students could take turns at talking about the most important aspects of the Faith in a specified time, e.g. one minute, two minutes, etc.
Role-playing – When they are confident at that, make it more difficult; another student pretends not to be a Bahá’í and meeting at bus stop etc., so the presentation of aspects of the Faith will now be interrupted by questions etc.
