(Lesson plans for children’s classes, sent out by Mrs. M. Klyne, IOW.)

These lesson plans have been scanned into a computer, by Alan Woodhurst, from the original sheets, and are reproduced here with very few changes. Hopefully they will be of some use to teachers as they stand, although some are quite short and need expanding to form a complete lesson; maybe we will be able to get this done in due course.

Anyone preparing lesson plans on a computer, whether as extensions of these lessons or for any part of the National Curriculum, please either e-mail them (as attachment) to afwoodhurst@hotmail.com or send on a floppy disk to Alan Woodhurst, 16 Freshfields Avenue, Upminster, RM14 2BZ, together with a stamped addressed envelope for return of disk.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES

AGE GROUP

These lessons have been written for 8 - 12 year-olds (approximately). Younger children will appreciate the lessons if the stories are condensed and the activity work changed.

AIMS

To give the children a good grounding in the history of the Faith, and in so doing to increase their love for the Faith. To enable them to have heroes and heroines more worthwhile than "T.V." heroes of the modern day. To show examples of spiritual qualities which are required by us today. To enable the children to understand the sufferings of Baha'is in this age and why they are willing to be persecuted.

EQUIPMENT

Each child needs either a folder, looseleaf paper and binder or large notebook. Looseleaf paper has the advantage that headings and homework questions can be typed on before the lesson. (Each person who makes a journey will need a map as it would be too complicated to put all the journeys on one).
