 Aim of lesson :             To study ‘prayerfulness’ through learning a flew prayer and discussing the behaviours, mood and environment conducive to prayer.

 Objectives:
I.       Children to remind themselves about why we pray and what prayer is.
2.      Children to demonstrate a prayerful attitude and behaviours
3.      Everyone to rehearse this term’s new prayer. (‘Pray to God that He may....’ from ‘O Thou Kind Lord’ page 38)
4.      Make an Angel mobile to decorate the prayer (see attached worksheets)

Story

Read When I pray' from the Basic Truths series No.6.

Prayer

Rehearse prayer with everyone demonstrating a prayerful attitude and body posture.

Craft work

Using worksheets make Angel mobiles.

 

Materials; glue, scissors, coloured and shiny paper, cardboard angel' templates, prayer cards, thread, hole punch, wool for hair, ribbon to hang, pens, pencils.

 Evaluation

 Children enjoyed making the mobiles and are showing an understanding of how to demonstrate prayerfulness.
